A customer story that stopped us in our tracks this month
Every now and again a customer shares something that reminds us exactly why it's so important to create clothing that moves with and supports women's bodies, and this was one of those moments.
The lovely Lucinda @delorelucinda kindly reached out to share a heartwarming story about how our Angelina Dress 'completely saved the day' on her brother's wedding day. We'll drop her full message below:
"I hoped to share something with you, because it happened yesterday and made me realise quite how much my AYM dresses have become part of the important moments in my life.
My brother got married yesterday. After the ceremony, my new sister-in-law felt unwell from the weight and structure of her wedding dress . She has Crohn’s disease and had become too uncomfortable to keep wearing it. She was sitting outside feeling really miserable and had decided she was going to change into jeans and a white T-shirt for the rest of her wedding.
I live about 45 minutes away, and I have a wardrobe full of beautiful cream AYM dresses at home. So I offered to go back and bring anything that might work for her. I did miss the pudding and the speeches, but I came back with an armful of dresses - and my cream Angelina fit her absolutely perfectly.
She looked so beautiful in it. More importantly, she was comfortable again and could go back to enjoying her wedding rather than feeling unwell and unhappy in what she was wearing. My brother said that they would have missed their first dance without it.
My sister-in-law and I have never been especially close, so there was something unexpectedly lovely about being able to look after her in that little way on such an important day.
When the professional photographs arrive in a few weeks, I would really love to leave a proper review. The Angelina genuinely saved the evening, and made a lovely wedding gift.
I was wearing my Orchid Pink Venus yesterday too - including, rather less elegantly, for a very enthusiastic game of frisbee! I’ve attached one photograph because it made me smile. The week before, I wore my Mahogany Venus to my partner Jack’s brother’s wedding, and next week I’ll be taking several AYM dresses to Mallorca with us - including, as you know, the Star dress I’ll be wearing for a rather important question.
I suppose I just wanted to say thank you. I buy these dresses because I think they’re beautiful, but somewhere along the way they’ve become clothes I associate with some of the loveliest and most significant days of my life. Yesterday made me realise that."
Lucinda's story touched us so deeply, because we know how important it is for women to feel comfortable and confident in what they're wearing, especially on such a special day.
It reminded us that clothing is about so much more than aesthetics. The right piece should allow you to feel comfortable in your body and stay present in the moment, whatever your body might be going through.
And perhaps those are the pieces we value most: the ones we feel comfortable and confident in, that we reach for time and time again, and that eventually become part of our memories of life's most special moments.
