Female Founded
AYM was founded by Alie Mackintosh; a designer with a passion for making clothing that is both beautiful and functional.
Alie started the label in her final year of university from a box of scrap fabric she purchased for just £14. The business started from humble beginnings, with Alie designing and making the clothes. Starting the brand as a sewing machinist, Alie has a great appreciation for the hard work and skills required to make clothing. An appreciation that runs through the very seams of AYM, where there is a constant celebration of the skilled people at the heart of the brand, the makers.
Founded from a desire to solve problems that she experienced first hand as a woman, Alie is committed to making quality clothing that put the needs of women at the centre of the design process. Thinking carefully and thoroughly about how clothing can do more for the women who wear it. This includes designing clothes that have generous pockets, large enough to hold a phone, fully lining garments to avoid clothes being see-through, creating built-in bras and built-in shorts and creating collections around curating cohesive looks that make feeling put-together effortless.
